This momentous occasion marked the realization of Danny's cherished dream, as he and Patricia, partners for nearly two decades, exchanged vows in the presence of their family and friends.

Planning the wedding became a joyous collaborative effort, with Hospice of Humboldt working closely with the Humboldt County Clerk's Office and notary Suzi Smith to navigate the paperwork complexities. The dedicated HoH team, alongside Danny and Patricia, overcame bureaucratic challenges, enabling the couple to complete essential documents from the comfort of their home while Danny continued to receive the necessary care.

Reflecting on the significance of hospice in their journey, Patricia expressed, "If it wasn't for hospice, we wouldn't be married." The HoH team's unwavering support extended beyond paperwork logistics; they assisted with the marriage ceremony's organization, ensuring a seamless celebration of love.

Surrounded by their tight-knit community in Humboldt County, Danny and Patricia basked in the warmth of familial and friendly support on their special day. Family and friends joined forces to decorate the venue, and even the Meals on Wheels delivery driver contributed by providing a wedding cake and attending the ceremony.

In addition to handling the paperwork intricacies, Hospice of Humboldt went above and beyond, gifting the newlyweds bride and groom pajama sets and framed copies of their marriage license and vows. All these heartfelt gestures, including notary and processing fees with Humboldt County, were made possible through donations made to the Custis Compassion & Saunders Care Fund.
