Hospice of Humboldt has many special funds that fill the gaps between the reimbursement we receive from medical insurance and the actual cost of services we provide to our patients and the community.

Each of our donor funds has a unique purpose:
General Fund helps us support all aspects of Hospice of Humboldt, including end-of-life services to the poor and uninsured, the 13 months of bereavement support available to all families on hospice service, grief support groups, and community services like our Advance Care Planning Workshops.
IEHH Charity Care Fund ensures that our patients without financial resources have the personalized medical care they need as well as comfort and support for their families at end of life. This fund is used for residential care of patients at the Ida Emmerson Hospice House (IEHH) as payment for room and board that is not covered by the Medicare Hospice benefit or any other reimbursement source.
Grief Support Services (Bereavement Fund) is used our bereavement services and events such as our community Grief Support Groups, Creative Arts Gatherings, and Writing Through Grief workshops. These services are vital to not only Hospice families but to the community at large as everyone is welcome to attend our grief support groups and workshops.
Caregiver Fund is used to providing funding for private short-term caregivers to Hospice patients who do not have the necessary resources to proved these services themselves.
Circle of Care (The Children’s Bereavement Fund) is used for children’s bereavement services and events such as our Family Day Workshop and Grief Support Group for Teens. This program provides much-needed support for children and teens in our community.
Custis Fund pays for unusual, one-time request from our patients and their families — requests not covered by any insurance — that allow a patient to achieve a specific goal before dying.
We Honor Veterans Quilt Fund is used to help defray the costs of the beautiful patriotic quilts offered to each of our patients who are veterans. Since we became a partner in the national We Honor Veterans program in 2012, the Redwood Empire Quilters Guild have generously handcrafted hundreds of lap quilts to honor each veteran under Hospice care.
Pet Peace of Mind © (PPOM) at Hospice helps hospice patients care for their pets by providing food and litter, volunteers to help with pet care and grooming, routine medications, vaccinations and routine veterinary visits, boarding or foster care during emergencies, and guidance in finding new homes for pets when the time comes.
Your gifts to these funds mean a great deal to our patients, their families, and the community members who utilize our grief support groups and programs. To contribute to any of these funds, simply let us know where to direct your donation.
